Software Class next Tuesday 18th May

Do you like machine embroidery but long to be more creative? Jayne Childs has devised just the course for you! Using lettering and monograms as her inpiration, Jayne will share all kinds of design techniques and tricks in this one days course.

Before Jayne left the studio in 2007, she was  inspired by the software club she ran to design and stitch a whole quilt using every program in the 4D professional software. The resulting 'Alphabet Quilt' is on display in the Studio now.

Jayne has used all of the 4D software programs to create the letters, including 4D Embroidery, Cross Stitcher, and 4D Fabric Decorator, so whatever 4D software you have you'll learn new skills for use at home. You won't spend all day glued to a screen though, in the afternoon you will stitch out the designs you've created.

It costs £28 and there's an equipment list provided. To book, either call us on 0115 9881550 or book online http://bit.ly/bUofLk

Sewing Shows

We really enjoy getting out and about and meeting people who can't make it into the shop, and where better than the Sewing Shows at the NEC? Last year we attended Sewing for Pleasure in March and Festival of Quilts in August
2010 show dates:
Sewing for Pleasure 25th - 28th March
Festival of Quilts 19th - 22nd August

You can see our stand is full of samples to give you inspiration, although often you inspire us! We really enjoy meeting sewing enthusiasts from all over the country, indeed from around the world. Shows are hard work and we're all exhausted by the end of week, but it's worth it!

Watch this space for news of our Show plans for 2010.

Great Software offers

Since we've been here in Nottingham, embroidery machines and their software have changed so much! We have worked hard to establish ourselves as a centre of excellence for Husqvarna Viking Software, developing a software training room and course programme to help our customers get the most out of their design software. (Click here for details of our current courses, including software classes)

We've been bowled over by the response to Husqvarna Viking's 4D QuiltDesign Creator Software. It's so easy to create quilting designs for your embroidery machine and we have many happy users who will testify to that! If you'd like to read more about what this amazing software package can do, click here.

Who are we?

What a great question, giving us a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to you!

Husqvarna Studio, Nottingham, was opened in 1996 by Neil and Rosemary Coles. The Studio has remained in the same building ever since, albeit with subtle changes to the layout and stock! The original idea was to provide a one-stop shop for sewing machine enthusiasts and to provide expert advice and high class service.

Only one year later in 1997, the Studio was awarded the coveted 'International Dealer of the Year' prize by Husqvarna Viking. The intervening years have seen some changes here at the Studio, as embroidery and sewing machines have developed, but that original ethos remains. We only deal in one brand of sewing machines, so we can confidently say that you'll get expert help and advice from our friendly staff.

Let's introduce ourselves...

Neil has been in the sewing trade since 1976, after joining his father's business in Leicester. He's an expert on technical issues for all makes and model of sewing machine.
He's also the 'CEO', acting as Managing and Financial Director of the business, alongside taking care of the technical side of things on sewing and software .

They say that behind every successful man there is a great woman, and this is certainly the case with Rosemary! She takes care of the day to day running of the shop, and training centre, as well as writing the newsletters, course brochures and adverts!
To relax she swims..... and sews of course! She has a Designer Diamond

Lynn has been sewing for as long as she can remember. Lynn teaches classes in the Studio alongside working full time in the shop. She owns a Designer Diamond.

Helen is another customer turned staff member. She owns a Platinum Plus embroidery machine and 3D embroidery software. She has become a software expert and loves using it in quilting and other sewing disciplines.

Sandra takes care of the mail order side of the business, 3 days per week. You may well speak to her if you have a query with your order. She owns a Designer SE, and a Huskylock 905 overlocker, as well as the 4D Professional software.

Natalie joined us whilst still at school, and is now studying Textiles at Nottingham Trent University, but works at weekends and during the holidays. She is popular with staff and customers alike, and is our in-house model!

Lee joined us in September 2009 as an apprentice sewing machine engineer. Under Neil's guidance he is becoming very dextrous with all makes of machines. From Neil's point of view it is nice to have another bloke about the place to even up the numbers a little, and to be able to talk about football and cricket!

We'll tell you about the courses, fabric and sewing machines  in the coming weeks, but if you can't wait to explore, why not visit our website www.husqvarnastudio.co.uk
